Biography: 



Dean Barrow was born in 1951. In 2008 he became the 6th Prime Minister of Belize. Barrow is a

career lawyer. His education includes a Bachelor of Law from the University of the West Indies,

a Master of Law from the University of Miami and a Master of Arts in International Relations

from the same university. 



His first national election was in 1984, his first electoral victory saw him filling such roles as

Attorney General and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Following this there were a few years as a

member of the opposition and others as a cabinet minister in the governing party. He became the

leader of his political party, the United Democratic Party, in 1998. He was subsequently elected

as prime minister in 2008.
