Biography
Evo Morales was born in Orinoca, Bolivia, in 1959. He is the current President of Bolivia, and was elected in 2006. Evo Morales comes from an indigenous Bolivian Aymara family. In his teens he participated in many agricultural activities with his father. In 1985 he started getting involved in trade unions, in this case in a union of coca farmers. Following this Morales became actively involved with several trade and socialist movements. 

Evo Morales was elected in 2006, and he was re-elected in 2009. Morales' political party is the Movement for Socialism, one of his chief aims is to assure the rights of indigenous peoples and also to redistribute the wealth created from gas exploration and extraction, to poorer regions of the country. He is therefore a very vocal leader, and his not afraid of bringing his convictions to the forefront, even if these are unpopular or make other nations uncomfortable, by being finger-pointed by Morales for not upholding indigenous rights in their nations. His style has created some internal frictions also, as the richer provinces are reluctant to share their wealth with the poorer ones and are even threatening to seek independence.
