Biography:
Jorge Carlos Fonseca was born in Mindelo, Cape Verde, in 1950. He is the current President of Cape Verde. He studied at the University of Lisbon where he obtained a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Law. Jorge Carlos Fonseca has been involved with Cape Verde's government and politics for a long time before becoming president, serving as Cape Verde's Foreign Minister from 1991 to 1993, and in 2001 he was defeated in his bid for the presidency. He would however triump in the 2011 presidential elections, and he became Cape Verde's new President on September 9th 2011.
