Biography:

Sebastian Pinera was born in Santiago, Chile, in 1949. He is the current President of Chile. His education includes a degree in economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, and a Master's degree and a PhD in economics from Harvard University. In his early career he was a university lecturer and a successful investor, through which channel he amassed most of his great fortune.

His political career began in 1990 when he was elected as a senator. He attempted to run in the 1992 presidential elections but a scandal surfaced and he retired his bid. He ran again in 2005 and got to the second round before losing to Michelle Bachelet. In 2009 he ran again and eventually won in the second round of votes in 2010.
