Biography:


Helle Thorning-Schmidt was born in Rodovre, Denmark, in 1966. She is the current Prime Minister of Denmark. She studied Political Science at the University of Copenhagen, and she also obtained a Master's Degree from the College of Europe.


She was elected to the European Parliament in 1999 as a member of the Party of European Socialists. In 2005 she was elected to the Danish Parliament as a member of the Social Democrats, the same year she was elected as the new leader of the Social Democrats. She led the party in the 2007 elections although her party remained in opposition following the elections. Following the 2011 elections, she was able to form a coalition with other opposition parties, even though the party in power had actually gained seats but not a majority. Her coalition was eventually approved by the Queen of Denmark and she became Prime Minister on October 3rd 2011.

Biography:


Lars Lokke Rasmussen was born in Vejle, Denmark, in 1964. He is the current Prime Minister of Denmark. He obtained a law degree from the University of Copenhagen. Before beginning his political career he was a consultant. He served as minister of health and the interior in 2001 until 2007. In 2007 he became minister of finance. In 2009 he was named prime minister.
