Biography

Hosni Mubarak was born in Kafr-El Meselha, Egypt, in 1928. He is the current and fourth President of Egypt. He studied at several military academies in Egypt and the Soviet Union. He was eventually commissioned as an officer in the Egyptian Air Force, where he rose to the rank of Air Chief Marshal. In 1981 he became president when Anwar el-Sadat was assassinated and as been president since. He has been re-elected in 1987, 1993, 1999 and a disputed 2005 election.
