He is the current Interim Leader of Egypt, he was appointed when Hosni Mubarak resigned as the President of Egypt, following the uprisings that happened in the country from January to February 2011. He is a career Military Officer. He joined the Egyptian Military in 1956, he served in the Sinai War of 1956, the Six-Day War of 1967, the October War of 1973 and the First Gulf War from 1990-91. In 1991 he became the Minister of Defense of Egypt. He will remain the current Head of State of Egypt, until elections can held, the circumstances surrounding these elections will determine whether or not the revolution was a success.
