Biography:
Obiang Nguema Mbasogo was born in Acoacan, Equatorial Guinea, in 1942. He is the current President of Equatorial Guinea. He attended the Military Academy in Zaragoza, Spain. He was then commissioned an officer in the army. In 1979 he took control from Francisco Macias in a military coup, citing the regime's dictatorship and crimes. He was then re-elected in 1989, 1996, 2002 and 2009. His style is rather odd and is very authoritarian, he also tries to promote a personal cult where he is considered a god. He is also accused of corruption and depositing state funds into his personal accounts.
