Nicholas Sarkozy was born in Paris, France, in 1955. He is the 23rd and current President of France. He is a career lawyer and obtained his degrees from the Université Paris X Nanterre. Before becoming president he served in several ministerial posts and was also the leader of the right-wing party, Union pour un Movement Populaire. He ran in the 2007 French presidential elections and eventually won defeating Segolene Royal in run-off elections.
