Ali Bongo Ondimba was born in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo, in 1959. He is the current President of Gabon. He holds a law degree. Ali Bongo is the son of the former president Omar Bongo, he was elected president in the 2009 elections following his father's death the same year. Before becoming president he had server as minister of foreign affairs and minister of defense.

Before becoming prime minister he held several economic related posts and then several ministerial posts. He became prime minister on 17 July 2009.
