Haiti is bordered by the Dominican Republic. Haiti is the least developed country in the Americas. Approximately 80% of the population lives in poverty. Agriculture is the biggest employer, however most of these activities are subsistence farming. Haiti also depends largely on foreign aid which amounts to 30-40% of its total annual government budget. Haiti was struck by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake in January 2010, the quake destroyed much of its fragile infrastructure and crippled the economy, as well as taking a heavy death toll.
