Current Situation
Iceland is located in the North Atlantic Ocean. Iceland's economy is very developed and has one of the highest GDP's per capita in the world. The global economic crisis has hit Iceland hard in 2008, the country's major banks collapsed. In January 2009 the government resigned, being unable to contain the economic crisis.
