Biography
Olafur Ragnar Grimsson was born in Isafjorour, Iceland, in 1943. He is the current and fifth President of Iceland. He studied economics and political science at the University of Manchester, he also obtained a PhD in political science. He began his career has a university lecturer and eventually became a professor. He started in politics in 1978 as a member of the Althing (Parliament), in 1988 he was named minister of finance. He was first elected to the presidency in 1996, he was re-elected in 2000, 2004 and 2008.
