Biography
Brian Cowen was born in Clara, Ireland, in 1960. He is the current Prime Minister or 'Taoiseach' of Ireland. He studied at the University College Dublin and obtained a law degree. He joined politics in 1984 when he was first elected to parliament. He then held several ministerial positions througout his career, including Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Finance. He was named prime minister in 2008.
