Dalia Grybauskaite was born in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 1956. She is the current and first female President of Lithuania. She studied at the Saint Petersburg State University, the Russian Academy of State Service and Georgetown University. Before becoming president following the 2009 presidential elections, she served as a public servant and held some key ministerial posts including Minister of Finance.

Andrius Kubilius was born in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 1956. He is the current Prime Minister of Lithuania. He studied at Vilnius University. He joined politics following the collapse of the Soviet Union, however he had been involved in independence movements before this. He was elected prime minister in 2008, he had previously served in this post from 1999 to 2000.
