Mohammed Waheed was born in Male, Maldives, in 1953. He is the current President of the Maldives. He studied at Stanford University where he obtained a Doctorate degree. He was elected as vice-president following the 2008 elections and became the President of the Maldives on February 7th 2012 when Mohamed Nasheed resigned from his post.
