Biography
Fradique de Menezes was born in Sao Tome, Sao Tome and Principe, in 1942. He is the current President of Sao Tome and Principe. He studied in Portugal and Belgium. Before becoming president he served as Sao Tome and Principe's foreign minister. He was first elected president in 2001, but was deposed in 2003 during a coup, but he eventually took back power through an agreement. He won the 2006 presidential elections, another potential coup was revealed in 2009 but was averted and the perpetrators were imprisoned.
