Current Situation
Sudan is located in East Africa. It is bordered by the Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Libya and Uganda. Sudan's economy is growing at a strong pace, despite civil conflicts which are attracting international attention and sanctions by the United States. Sudan is rich in natural resources, however with the instability reigning in the country, it remains to be seen when its vast potential can be exploited fully. Sudan will be faced with a referendum in 2011 regarding the independence of South Sudan.
