Biography:
Emomalii Rahmon was born in Kulob, Tajikistan, in 1952. He is the current President of Tajikistan. He studied at the Tajik State University. He became the Prime Minister of Tajikistan in 1992 and was elected as the President of Tajikistan in 1994. He survived an assassination attempt in 1997 and also avoided two coups one in 1997 and one in 1998. He was re-elected as president in 1999 and in 2006.
